In today's world, where instant gratification often lures us with promises of quick fixes and temporary relief, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Especially in these times—where life seems to be throwing us all off balance—as we collectively observe outdated structures and systems unraveling. We find ourselves searching for ways to heal, to grow, to (re)connect, to rebuild and to truly understand ourselves and whatever the heck is going on. I've been on this journey myself for some time, exploring various paths in an attempt to find something that not only sticks but also creates lasting change.
During this exploration, I uncovered a profound truth—a revelation about the nature of lasting change and transformation, and the genuine steps required to set it into motion—something that's long be referred to as Personal Alchemy, and which my coaching work is strongly affiliated with. It's not a quick fix; rather, it's a consistent and transformative journey of inner work founded through forging a neutral relationship with the darkest parts of ones self.
As someone who's suffered with CPTSD (complex post-traumatic stress), I found that short-term interventions (both traditional and alternative) offered temporary relief from the darker aspects of my psyche—aspects embodied in depression, anxiety, shame, perfectionism, extreme self-reliance and self-sabotage. However, these interventions often led to increased dissociation from and rejection of those parts of myself. (It's worth noting that this doesn't make them disappear; instead, they tend to surface unconsciously, especially in our interactions with others.) Short-term interventions also fell short in soothing my deep emotional wounds, which were related to how I formed connections with others. The brevity of, let's say, 1-5 sessions or even 1-2 months with a practitioner and their practice made it challenging (if not impossible) to establish safety and trust to get to the root of my issues. Additionally, I discovered that many practitioners and their therapeutic services were ill-equipped to understand and support me in navigating the complexities of my life journey. This deficiency often stemmed from their own unresolved issues and unprocessed trauma. That's why I emphasise the importance of self-work for individuals working in healthcare, social care, or human services-related industries. You can only guide others as far as you've journeyed within yourself.
This understanding is also why I believe that some mentors, coaches, holistic practitioners, doctors, therapists, and even psychotherapists may struggle to create a lasting impact through their services.
The Missing Link
In our modern world, where the quick fixes and surface-level approaches often prevail, those grappling with CPTSD symptoms (which, I believe, includes most of us) may find themselves yearning for something deeper.
I realised I needed an approach that wouldn't amplify my feelings of brokenness but would instead honour the mind, body and spirit connection and address the uncomfortable sensations, intrusive thoughts, and fragmented memories that had confounded me for so long. And so with the guidance of qualified support—which btw took years of dead ends and a lot of discernment to find—I delved into my past that was being perpetually triggered by present encounters and interactions.
I courageously exploring early family dynamics, confronting early attachment wounds and developmental trauma, and revisiting the depths of the reasons behind my tumultuous relationships, depression, and anxiety. It was and continues to be an arduous journey that's ultimately led me to newfound wisdom, paradigm shifts, more access to physical sensations and emotions I didn't know were possible, and a profound sense of accountability. But my biggest gain has to be this: I've reclaimed control and power over my life through cultivating NEW and incredibly nuanced perspectives about my self, others and the TRUE nature of this reality.
The Power of Nine Months
During this transformative period, I discovered something remarkable about the nine-month mark—the sacred gestation period for birthing new life. It struck me that personal growth and healing follow a similar pattern, unfolding in trimesters.
Taking inspiration from the idea that achieving lasting transformation parallels the trimesters of nurturing new life, and driven by both divine inspiration and my personal journey of healing and transformation, I embarked on a mission to create a transformative coaching journey I've since coined 'Womb to World.'
Just over a year has passed since I quietly introduced this unique three-trimester coaching approach. There were no flashy social media promotions—just a couple of simple newsletters. I'm truly amazed by how many of you have resonated with this approach, built upon a foundation of best practices, trauma-sensitive methods, and a steadfast commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Witnessing Transformation
Today, as I witness my first cohort of clients completing my signature three trimester coaching immersion, I'm in awe of their breakthroughs, self-awareness, and the newfound leadership in their lives. The transformational power of this work goes beyond tools and techniques—it's rooted in our open and honest conversations, the willingness to be vulnerable, and the radical acceptance and curiosity of ALL parts of themselves cultivated through our relationship. Their journeys resonate with my own happening in real-time, serving as a powerful reminder of our shared humanity and interconnectedness.
A Transformational Journey Tailored to You
Some clients experience significant shifts in just three months, while others find the full nine-month journey most impactful. For most, the nine-month mark is where the real work (and magic) begins. Because to be perfectly honestly, most of us humans take a while to feel safe enough and trusting enough in another's hands to get to the crux of our vulnerabilities.
